SAGES 2019 Humanitarian project: Healthcare for the Homeless (HCH)
The 2019 SAGES Humanitarian project in Baltimore is “Healthcare for the Homeless.” We ask for your support by donating gift cards for food, toiletry items, energy/snack bars, and socks for survival kits to be distributed to the homeless who seek medical care. (Please see detailed list below)
Collection bins will be in the Conference Registration Area on
Wednesday, April 3rd.
Please drop off items on Wednesday, so our volunteers can assemble the survival kits on Thursday morning.
Health Care for the Homeless works to prevent and end homelessness for vulnerable individuals and families by providing quality, integrated health care and promoting access to affordable housing and sustainable incomes through direct service, advocacy, and community engagement.
These projects build the capacity of their staff to deliver care to our nearly 10,000 patients experiencing homelessness. The project supports the building of relationships between staff and clients as we work to address individual’s health needs. They believe the Baltimore community is stronger when the most vulnerable among us are supported in their journey towards more stable, secure, and healthy lives.
Suggested items for the Community Survival Kits: New socks, Rain poncho, Reusable water bottle, Energy bars/trail mix/dried fruit, Gift card for food (Subway, Dunkin’ Donuts and McDonald’s sell $5 cards), Toothbrush & toothpaste, Bar soap in a durable plastic bag, Socks, Body lotion, Wet wipes, Hand sanitizer, Comb, Feminine products, and “hotel-sized” toiletries.
